12 Years Wasted - 12 Years Wasted started as a trio, consisting of members Stephen Rodgers, Joel Herrera, and Nasty Nate Maxwell. The band enjoyed playing covers and didn’t tend to play a lot of “shows”, other than talent shows and house parties. The cover gig started lacking when they could play the songs better than the bands that wrote them, so they decided to write their own music. They wrote 5 original songs and released the “Dirty Booty Mix EP”. The EP was terrible. The main problem this band had was that no one could sing. In fact, all three of them were tone deaf. They decided a singer was in order so they called on Taylor McClure, front man from local band Next Exit, to lead their band with the sweet, sweet melodies. Things went smooth for a while; the band wrote classic songs and played memorable shows, and even won 3rd place at the battle of the bands in deep ellum, their first show with this line-up. The band was doing well, at least for a while. Problems started to come up with bassist Nasty Nate. He had some issues, and we’ll leave it at that. Now that a slot was open for a bassist, the band searched once more. Little did they know this will be their final expedition. Enter Josh Hecht, bass player extraordinaire. Taylor and Joel had played with Josh in Next Exit, and the fact that Josh wasn’t occupied with anything serious drew his attention towards 12 Years Wasted. Josh clicked in nicely, improved the basslines and wrote even better new ones, and even puked a couple times, but hey, we’ll let that one slide. 12 Years Wasted is now a complete, solid band, ready to take on America, Europe, Japan, Australia, and anywhere else their tour van will take them.
